Watmough Bay, Chadwick Hill & Point Colville
These hikes are located at the southern end of Lopez Island. They comprise Watmough Bay Preserve (San Juan Land Bank Preserve) and Chadwick Hill/Point Colville (San Juan Islands National Monument.) These public lands protect over 400 acres and are cooperatively managed for trails and habitat preservation.
From the parking area, a short, shady walk leads to a small, lovely beach with views of Mount Baker framed by cliffs and forested hills. More trails encircle a freshwater marsh, wander along Point Colville to the south, and steeply ascend Chadwick Hill to the north. There is an outhouse and parking for eight vehicles. .
